Whitney Houston’s publicist, Kristen Foster, reported Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause of her death has not been released. She is reported to have died at the Beverly Hilton, 9876 Wilshire Boulevard.

Whitney Houston was one of the world’s best selling artists during the middle 1980s to the late 1990s. Her career was derailed in later years by drug use.

Whitney Houston died only hours before Houston was due to perform at music mogul Clive Davis’s annual pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She was found by someone in her entourage about 3:43 p.m. when hotel security called Beverly Hills police and firefighter/paramedics. Paramedics attempted to rescue her, including CPR, but she was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.

Houston was spotted partying earlier in the week at “Kelly Price & Friends Unplugged: For The Love Of R&B Grammy Party” at Tru Hollywood.

Whitney Houston recently starred in the filming of Sparkle, which is a remake of a 1976 film with the same name about the Williams sisters — a tale inspired by The Supremes, about a girl group of three sisters. Houston stars as Emmma, the sisters’ mother in the upcoming film directed by Salim Akil and produced by Stage 6 Films, which is set for an August 17, 2012 release by TriStar Pictures. Production for the film began on October 10, 2011 in Detroit. Filming was completed in early November 2011, and the project is currently in post-production. The release date is scheduled for August 17, 2012.

Whitney Houston is a six-time Grammy winner, whose record sales in the United States totaled 55 million and worldwide was 200 million.
