Rolling Meadows police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:50 a.m. Friday to a report of a gas leak at 4700 Kenilworth Drive. Emergency responders heard a report from a resident that Nicor was on the scene and that a loud noise was heard followed by a strong smell of gas. Immediately after the first call emergency responders heard a report from Nicor that a valve was broken and there was a gas leak. Nicor contained the leak while firefighters stood by.
Some people were evacuated to a clubhouse. Traffic was also blocked in the area of Kenilworth and Hampton.
The scene was turned over to Nicor at 10:45 a.m. Friday.
