A police chase ended early Tuesday when the suspect’s car slammed into a house, coming to rest inside a bedroom and on top of a sleeping man.

A New Haven, Connecticut man woke up in his bed in his house about 1:00 a.m. Tuesday at Winchester Avenue and Webster Street to find an SUV crashed on top of him. The SUV was being chased by police for a motor vehicle violation in a pursuit that started in Hamden. The offender fled on foot, and was at large immediately after the crash.

The man was trapped for about one hour with non-life-threatening burns. Firefighters extricated him from his own bedroom and the crash with the unwelcome SUV.
