Rainy, Dark Rush Hour Brings Over 12 Crashes on Northwest Suburban Roads

ROUGH MORNING RUSH HOUR with multiple crashes in Arlington Heights, Elk Grove Village, Mount Prospect, and Schaumburg during Wednesday morning’s rush hour brought trouble to the northwest suburbs starting about 6:20 am.

Crash at Old Arlington Heights Road and Thorton Lane reported at about 6:23 a.m., a black Honda and a gray Subaru crashed — no injuries.

Crash at Hintz and Ridge reported about 6:51 a.m., a gray Chrysler Sebring and a gray Chevy Suburban — no injuries.

Crash at Palatine and Arlington Heights Road reported about 7:04 a.m. — no injuries reported, but paramedics were requested by police after they arrived on the scene.


Crash at Central Road and Arlington Heights Road reported about 7:19 a.m. — no injuries reported. Police reported it was a four-car crash, then discovered it was two separate crashes.

Hit-and-run crash on Algonquin Road east of Route 53, Rolling Meadows. Offending vehicle a tan or brown 4-door, vehicle last seen westbound on Algonquin Road — no injuries.

Crash at Arlington Heights Road and Hintz Road reported about 7:26 a.m., tan Chevrolet Prizm with a broken axle and a white Ford Focus with heavy front-end damage — injuries reported, but police reported no injuries after they arrived.

Elk Grove Village police discovered a crash at Devon Avenue and York Road/Elmhurst Road about 7:32 a.m. Police called for paramedics for one injury victim. Police also called for additional police units for a serious traffic backup that was developing in the area.

Crash at Roselle Road and Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg reported about 7:39 a.m., a green Toyota and a dark blue Chevy Blazer.

Three-vehicle crash with injuries at Oakton and Busse reported about 7:46 a.m.. a taxi van and two purple vehicles involved in the crash with lane blockage in the area. Three ambulances responded to the crash at Oakton and Busse.

Five-vehicle crash with at least one injury at Lake Cook Road and Wilke reported about 7:58 a.m., a black Chevy Silverado, gray Mazda 3, silver Honda Civic with a broken front axle were towed. Buffalo Grove police assisted Arlington Heights police.

Crash at Woodfield Mall at Perimeter Drive reported about 8:07 a.m., a black Buick LaCrosse and a small black vehicle — no injuries.

Crash at Schaumburg and Meacham reported about 8:04 a.m. — no injuries, but police requested paramedics after they arrived on the scene.

Crash at Salem Drive and SagamoreDrive, Schaumburg reported about 8:30 a.m. — no injuries.

Second crash reported at Devon Avenue and York Road/Elmhurst Road about 8:46 a.m. — no injuries.
