The outdoor trail includes a Bike Route and Pedestrian Pathway, an Observation Deck overlooking Hastings Creek, and access to Engle Memorial Park/Community Center.

Lindenhurst Police did not specify the exact time the incident occurred, and did not initially provide a description of the offender.

Police also did not specify whether paramedics were dispatched to assess and treat the battered woman.

“This is an active investigation and all resources are being used to try to ascertain exactly what occurred.”

— Lindenhurst Police Chief Thomas Jones
