At least six fire departments were involved in fighting the 3-11 alarm fire at Garden Ridge in Conroe, Texas.
Garden Ridge, a big box store, in Conroe, Texas is reported to be a total loss after a loud boom was heard and smoke filled the store just after noon Wednesday, October 12, 2011. Soon the 110,000 square-foot store at Texas 242 and I-45 was engulfed in flames and smoke.
All customers and employees evacuated the store safely.
Because of the size of the fire, the rapid spread of a large fire, and the report of witnesses hearing an explosion; the ATF was called in to work on the investigation with local investigators. So far there is no word on what caused the boom and resulting fire.
Garden Ridge is a large warehouse-size home decor store with art, seasonal decor, housewares, outdoor furniture, plant decor and more.
There is a Garden Ridge store in Schaumburg, Illinois at 1325 North Meacham, just south of I-90.
