Victim Calls to Say He Defended Himself With Hammer at Residence Near Thomas and Mitchell

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:10 a.m. Sunday to a report of a battery at a home in the 400 block of West Thomas Street. Police responded to a report that a victim of a battery defended himself by hitting an offender with a hammer, and locked the offender outside. The offender, who was described as a friend of the victim, was last seen by the victim in the street.

Police arrived and found a victim in the street near Thomas Street and Mitchell Avenue with multiple facial injuries and bleeding heavily. Police also reported a second victim with facial injuries.

An evidence technician was called to the scene. At least one victim was transported to Northwest Community Hospital.
