Video obtained by the website SportsGrid.com shows a bench-clearing brawl at an exhibition basketball game in Beijing between Georgetown University and China’s Bayi Rockets. The game was called with about nine and a half minutes remaining.

The Georgetown men’s basketball team was playing a goodwill basketball game when it turned into a violent basketbrawl game Thursday night. The exhibition game against the Bayi Rockets deteriorated into a kicking and punching melee street fight with players repetitively punching, kicking, and throwing objects. Chairs were thrown and spectators tossed full water bottles as Hoyas players and coaches headed to the locker room at Olympic Sports Center Stadium.

At halftime Bayi had had 11 fouls and Georgetown 28. An minor fights occurred before the major melee.

The fight started when Bayi forward-center Hu Ke was called for a foul against Georgetown’s Jason Clark. The senior guard Clark protested the hard foul and barked at Hu, which turned into a shoving match. The benches emptied.

With things getting out of control, Georgetown Coach John Thompson III collected the team to evacuate the team to the locker room.
