Storm Report: Flooding, Downed Power Lines

A line of storms grew along Lake Cook Road about midnight from Barrington to the Lake Michigan shore. The storm grew in length and width as a very large complex of thunderstorms approached from the west. Both complexes of storms merged.

Downed power line with arcing with fire for a prolonged period in the backyard of a house in the 700 block of North Drury. Heavy rain kept the fire under control.

Numerous rescues area occurring across the northwest and north suburbs. A group of five people are being rescued by boat.

A Palatine fire engine was stranded in water or had mechanical failure to their ‘turbo’ due to deep water.

An Elk Grove fire/rescue vehicle reported stuck inside Fire Station 9 because of flooding at Greenleaf Avenue and road construction in the area.

Working apartment fire 2025 West Algonquin Road. Fire on the third floor. Extra alarm fire. Building a total loss.

Golf Road impassable near I-90 west of New Wilke — reported 3:38 a.m. Several vehicles stuck in the water.

Arlington Heights Road blocked between Burr Oak and Dundee Road due to flooding.
