DASH CAM VIDEO: “My leg’s broke!” Authorities say a man who attacked a Summerville, SC police officer and stole his patrol car has a long criminal record and was let out of prison less than a month ago.

Dash cam video from a stolen Summerville police cruiser was released Thursday. The video briefly shows a suspect fighting a police officer, then driving at dangerous high speeds. The offender crashed the stolen squad car as he was passing a landscaping truck that just started to make a left turn while going in the same direction.

The offender was tased twice, but kept on going, and took off in the squad car. Data recordings show that the suspect drove the police car at speeds over 100 mph.

The incident started last Friday when 38-year-old Arthur Lee Thompson attempted to steal a computer from a Summerville Wal-mart, and punched a loss prevention employee in the mouth.
