Strauss-Kahn Granted $1 Million Bail, 24-Hr Electronic Monitoring, Pending Sex Assault Trial

Former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn was formally indicted Thursday and was granted a release from jail on $1 million bail while he awaits trial on charges that he sexually abused a hotel maid.

Strauss-Kahn, 62, will spend the night at the Rikers Island jail complex and is expected to be released tomorrow, according to his lawyer, William Taylor. Strauss-Kahn had been behind bars since Saturday.

DSK, as he is called in the press, is scheduled to be arraigned in New York on June 6, 2011. In addition to the $1 million bail, conditions include a $5 million insurance bond secured by his house, submitting to electronic monitoring 24 hours a day and having an armed guard around the clock.
