Storms with heavy rain and tornados swept through northeastern Missouri and central Illinois, damaging barns and toppling utility poles and downing power lines.

Illinois Tornado Reports for April 19, 2011

Two homes were destroyed and 15 others damaged near Girard, Illinois in Macoupin County — northeast of St. Louis. People were reported trapped where two houses were damaged. A tornado spotter observed a tornado on the ground and also observed power flashes west of Girard.


Storm spotter observed tornado touch down and break and collapse two utility poles south of Virden.

Tornado reported on the ground in Kincaid, Illinois.

Large tornado reported crossing Highway 55 at mile marker 56.

Tornado reported on the ground in Litchfield, Illinois.

Numerous power lines down, miner damage to a house in Honey Bend.

Barn destroyed near IL 104 and IL 29, Taylorville with a lot of debris on the road.

Trained spotters reported a funnel cloud near Mount Zion, near Decatur.

Power flashes observed with damage in town reported in Henning, Illinois.
