Time-Lapse Video of Supercell Thunderstorm Development in Nebraska

#ad▼

Late in the afternoon on April 9, 2011, storm chaser/photographer Chad Cowan captured this beautiful time lapse footage of supercell thunderstorms in eastern Nebraska.

Spring 2011 is especially active with about double the normal amount of tornados occurring this April. Make sure you watch the video to the end with night time lightning flashes and clearing skies showing the constellation Orion and bright star Sirius setting in the western sky.

Sirius is the bright star on the left, the three stars close together in the middle are Orion’s belt.
