Japanese Search for Survivors, Fear Radiation and Search for Food, Heat

“Very, very difficult conditions.” Steve Davies, British Search and Rescue, explains how rescuers are attempting to search under debris, sometimes led by citizen who give leads to where survivors might be positioned.

In areas hit hard by an earthquake then tsunami, the search goes on for any survivors. But the new fear in places like Sendai, Japan, is radiation from troubles at nuclear power plants nearby.

Survivors now face radiation fears, hunger, freezing weather and the futile effort to search for fuel, such as kerosene, for heat.
