Vince Vaughn arrested on suspicion of DUI at Prospect Avenue and Artesia Boulevard at the border of the cities of Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach less than a mile from the beachfront.
According to Manhattan Beach Police Department, Vince Vaughn and a male passenger were stopped at a DUI/Driver’s License and traffic safety checkpoint about 12:30 AM Sunday June 10, 2018 at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Artesia Boulevard at the border of Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach. When police asked Vaughn to step out of the vehicle, both men were uncooperative and, initially, both refused requests to get out of Vaughn’s vehicle, according to Manhattan Beach police.
When both men exited the vehicle about 1:00 AM, Vaughn was arrested, cited and booked for misdemeanor DUI. Both men were charged with obstructing an officer. Vaughn’s passenger was booked for obstruction and public intoxication, and Vaughn’s vehicle was taken to a police holding area.
Vaughn, age 48, and the male passenger posted bail and were released. Both were booked about 4:00 AM and were released on bond a short time later.
The DUI Checkpoint scheduled for the time period of Saturday June 9, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. to Sunday June 10, 2018 at 3:00 AM was announced to the public on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 on Nixle by Manhattan Beach Police Department.
The DUI charge is Vaughn’s first DUI offense. Vaughn was arrested in Wilmington, North Carolina after a 2:30 a.m. fight outside the the Firebelly Lounge in downtown Wilmington. Vince Vaughn, Steve Buscemi and Scott Rosenberg in the area working on the John Travolta film, Domestic Disturbance.
Local resident Timothy Fogerty, 21, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, after witnesses told police he instigated the brawl and stabbed Buscemi, who was acting as peacemaker in a fight between Vaughn and Fogerty. Vaughn and others were arrested for fighting, but Vaughn was immediately released.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. The purpose of the checkpoint is to promote public safety, increase the awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving, and deter impaired driving and unlicensed driving. This checkpoint will be conducted in joint partnership with the California Office of Traffic Safety. Funding for this checkpoint is provided to the Manhattan Beach Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
The intent of the checkpoint is to encourage sober designated drivers. By publicizing these educational and enforcement efforts, the Manhattan Beach Police Department believes that drinking and driving and driving while unlicensed will be reduced.
Our “Zero Tolerance” approach to enforcement sends a clear message to those who still don’t heed the warning to designate a sober driver before celebrations begin. Simply put, “If you are over the legal limit, you will be arrested.”
The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
