Authorities in Mississippi say at least 10 high school students were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and three adults were killed when two school buses collided with a tractor-trailer. About 60 students were on the buses.

CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. — At least three adults died when a Mississippi school bus from Ackerman High School in Choctaw County collided head-on with an 18-wheeler Tuesday afternoon in Calhoun County, NBC station WTVA of Tupelo reported.

The semi-trailer truck driver, the school bus driver and an adult chaperone were killed.

The bus was filled with high school students returning from a senior trip to the University of Mississippi in Oxford. About 10 students were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. No students were seriously injured.

The semitrailer apparently sideswiped one bus and then hit another head-on at a bridge along Highways 8 and 9, south of Calhoun City.
