Haze Inside IHOP Was Bad Air Handling Device; Haze Outside Bad Luck for One, Cannabis Arrest

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:10 PM Friday to a report of smoke coming from light fixtures in the IHOP restaurant, 31 East Golf Road. Police arrived first and reported the building was being evacuated. Firefighters arrived and reported a light haze inside the restaurant caused by a problem with the ventilation system — not a problem with the electrical system. There was no fire at IHOP.

Meanwhile, police outside apparently found a haze of a different type. Police called a K-9 unit to check on a subject.

One male/adult was arrested about 10:50 PM Friday for cannabis possession and transported in custody to Arlington Heights police headquarters.
