Man Killed, Pedestrian Hit by Metra Train in Arlington Heights

Two of three news helicopters hovering over Arlington Heights to cover a fatal train-pedestrian accident at Northwest Highway and Evergreen and a car accident at Arlington Heights Road and Hawthorne Friday morning.

A man about 50 years old was hit by an eastbound Metra train just after 7:15 a.m. near  Evergreen Avenue and Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights. The man died at the scene of the accident. The Metra train was stopped just east of Arlington Heights Road. Car traffic is not blocked by the stopped train. Only Evergreen Avenue is blocked by Arlington Heights police blocking the accident scene. All three Union Pacific train tracks are blocked and all Metra Northwest Line inbound and outbound trains are delayed.

Many residents were alerted that some news was happening in Arlington Heights as news helicopters were hovering overhead for about an hour Friday morning.
