The NFL draft runs through this Saturday, April 28, 2018, and CNBC’s Eric Chemi reports on what players go through to improve their chances of earning a big payday.
Specialized draft workout programs are becoming popular as NFL player prospect agents invest money in their athletes to improve their chances of performing well in the NFL Combine — a weeklong player showcase where college football players perform physical and mental tests in front of National Football League coaches, general managers, and scouts. Parabolic workout programs can cost as much as $10,000.
There is also a Pro Day. Each university has a Pro Day, when the NCAA allows NFL scouts to visit the school and watch players participate in the NFL Combine events together. Some smaller universities join with nearby schools for a consolidated Pro Day. Pro Days are often considered events where players feel more comfortable, and possibly perform better, at their own campus compared to the NFL Combine event. College teams with a history of NFL prospects generally generate high interest from scouts and coaches at their Pro Days.
Specialized workouts by Parabolic Performance in New Jersey was featured by CNBC as a sports performance service for NFL player hopefuls who want to perform at the top of their ability when they meet at the NFL Combine or a Pro Day.
Steven Frohlich, Parabolic Performance CEO, said that in 2018 if a player is not preparing specifically for Pro Day or the Combine, the player is “doing himself a disservice.”
