Wind Advisory: Strong SSW to WNW Winds Expected About Noon Through 6 PM

The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory in effect from 1 PM to 7 PM Tuesday at 3:56 PM CDT Monday. A dry cold front will cross the Arlington Heights area extending off of a deepening Low Pressure crossing northern Minnesota to southern Quebec, Canada. Strong winds are expected over northern Illinois and Indiana. Winds have hit speeds in the 20 mph rand already as early as 2 a.m. with gusts in the 30 mph range.

The wind speed could be as high as 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

Arlington Heights is included in the advisory region. Small items such as garbage cans, building ornaments, and lawn furniture could be blown around. Also tree branches could break and affect power lines in the area.
