Long Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:00 PM Saturday April 21, 2018 to a report of a crash with injuries on northbound Route 53 just north of Lake Cook Road. First Long Grove crew on arrival reported the crash was located on the beginning of the westbound ramp from NB Route 53 to westbound Lake Cook Road.
A second ambulance was requested by 2:11 p.m. and Long Grove Ambulance 55R was assigned.
A third ambulance was requested by 2:13 p.m. Palatine was unavailable and Lake Zurich Ambulance 324 was assigned.
Lake Zurich Ambulance 324 entered the expressway from Lake Cook Road the wrong way on the westbound exit ramp from Route 53 at about 2:28 p.m. Ambulance 324 accessed the scene from the north.
Patients were transported to Northwest Community Hospital and Condell Medical Center (not confirmed by officials).
The crash also reported on Waze.
