Firefighters Extinguish Van Fire on Central Road After Van Stolen and Abandoned

Firefighters put out a van fire very early Friday.

Arlington Heights firefighters were called about 4:00 a.m. Friday to put out a van fire at an apartment parking lot in the 600 block of West Central Road. The white Chevy van was engulfed in flames before firefighters arrived. The van was parked next to an apartment building, but no serious damage occurred to the building.

No injuries reported.

UPDATE: Motor Vehicle Theft: An unknown offender or offenders entered an unlocked white 2000 Chevy Van, took the keys from the center console, drove away and left the vehicle in flames.

The van was taken from the 700 Block S Chestnut and left at 600 Block of W Central in an apartment parking lot.

The vehicle is reported to have been stolen on Friday, August 6th, 2010 between 3:00am-3:53am.
