Click on the TRAFFIC OVERLAY directly above to overlay current traffic in a larger map with an index listing tollways, expressways and major highways. The traffic data from Google is provided for major highways and is color-coded to traffic conditions: green means no congestion; orange-yellow is for minor holdups; and red means significant slowdowns. The data is aggregated from several sources, including road sensors, as well as car and taxi fleets. If section of road is gray, insufficient data was able for that stretch of road.
Major landmarks and highway names are listed in markers are available in this Chicago Metro traffic map. Chicago traffic lingo commonly used by Chicago traffic reporters is also included. The map is also available in another helpful form at Arlington-cars.com/traffic.
