#ad▼

Chicago Fire Department firefighters responded about 2:15 a.m. Saturday in the Big Oaks neighborhood, to find CPD-marked 2006 Crown Victoria K-9 unit vehicle that was set on fire.

About five minutes later CFD firefighters responded to the Jefferson Park neighborhood, where an unmarked police vehicle was set on fire.

Apparently nothing inside the police vehicles was stolen.

Arson investigation underway by the Chicago Police Bomb and Arson Unit.

Big Oaks is bounded by Foster Avenue to the north, Nagle Avenue to the east, Gunnison Street to the south, and Harlem Avenue to the west. The neighborhood is about three miles east of O’Hare International Airport. Opposite of the neighborhood’s southern border at Gunnison Street are the suburb Harwood Heights, and an unincorporated area housing Ridgemoor Country Club. Many of the city’s police officers live in Big Oaks, and in recent years the area has seen an increase in the number of Polish immigrants.
