Chicago Police Taser 82 Year-Old Woman

The Chicago Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards is investigating a case where a Chicago Police Department officer fired a taser on 82-year old Lillian Fletcher, who refused to drop a hammer that she was thrashing when police got on the scene on October 29, 2007.

Police were called by Department of Aging employees who were performing a routine welfare check and were greeted by the swinging hammer. After Fletcher was tasered, she was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital. She was released in short time.
