Arlington Heights police received a report about 4:40 p.m. Thursday that a car was crashed into a tree near Algonquin Road and Embers Lane, and that the driver and a passenger were fleeing from the car, and running toward Cedar Glen Drive. The subjects were described as male/Hispanic. The first subject was wearing a black jacket and black pants with green checkered pockets. The second subject was wearing a red hoodie and black pants, with black sneakers with red soles. The offenders ran to the Algonquin Trails Apartments in Mount Prospect.

The vehicle, a Dodge, was determined by police to be stolen from a Mount Prospect address. The vehicle was apparently out of oil and was smoking from a burnt out engine. Arlington Heights Fire Department responded to check on an engine fire.

Mount Prospect police investigated the stolen car and was searching for the subjects. It is unknown if there were any arrests.
