The Boeing 747-8 is a widebody commercial airliner developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Officially announced in 2005, the 747-8 is the latest evolutionary version of the Boeing 747, with lengthened fuselage (18 feet larger than the 747-400), redesigned wings and improved efficiency. As of 2009, the first 747-8 freighter is due to be delivered in 4th quarter 2010, with the passenger model scheduled for 2011. As of January 8, 2010, a total of 108 Boeing 747-8s were on order; 76 of the freighter version and 32 of the passenger version.

The very first Boeing 747 tookoff on February 9, 1969. The jumbo jet was christened the City of Everett.
