A hot air balloon crashed with 12 passengers and a pilot on board Friday evening (August 24, 2007) at Hazelmere RV Park, a recreational vehicle park in Surrey, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver in Canada.
A mother and daughter were killed and 11 people were seriously injured after the balloon caught fire, shot up initially and then plummeted toward the ground into the trailer park.
Propane tanks also shot off the balloon’s basket and frame and landed in the trailer park, igniting a fire in trailer park. Some passengers jumped out of the basket and fell to the ground with their clothes on fire before the balloon climbed and then crashed.
The hot air balloon was operated by Fantasy Balloons Charters based in Langley, British Columbia
