A total of 6.0 inches of new snow fell since 8:30 a.m. Saturday in Arlington Heights, resulting in snow cover of 11.0 inches on grassy areas — recorded at 6:15 p.m. The snow that fell during the day was a light and fluffy, powdery snow. A total of 7.75 inches of snow has fallen from the period Friday, December 25 at 5:00 p.m. through December 26 at 6:15 p.m.

Only 1-2 inches was forecast about 8:30 a.m. this morning, but a Winter Storm Warning was issued later in the day with totals of 6-12 inches predicted — heaviest totals predicted over northwest portions of Cook County.
