The Arlington Heights Village Board voted for preliminary approval of Lauterberg & Oehler Funeral Home to build a new funeral home next to Memory Gardens at the southeast corner of Euclid Avenue and Waterman Avenue. The only trustee who voted against the plans was John Scaleta. The vote came after midnight after more than 25 residents gave feedback — opposing and supporting the new location.

The board voted against a crematorium. An embalming facility may be included later. If finalized, Lauterberg & Oehler Funeral Home would move from their building of over 50 years at Northwest Highway and Gregory Street.
