A thunderstorm that was predicted to arrive in Arlington Heights about 3:20 p.m. has stalled and fluctuated southwest of Arlington Heights and was mostly over Bartlett, Illinois at 4:07 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2026 (NWS Station KLOT in Chicago)
A thunderstorm that was predicted to arrive in Arlington Heights about 3:20 p.m. stalled and fluctuated southwest of Arlington Heights in a NWS Flash Flood Warned area, and was mostly over Bartlett, Illinois at 4:07 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2026 (NWS Station KLOT in Chicago).

A predicted thunderstorm severe enough to cause the Arlington Heights Police Department to temporarily close Frontier Days was on track to arrive in Arlington Heights about 3:20 p.m. hasn’t arrived as of 4:30 p.m. Instead, storm cells stalled over Elgin, Streamwood, Bartlett, Hanover Park and Schaumburg; and at 4:18 p.m. it looks as though new development is arriving near Arlington Heights from the north instead of from the north.

The storm cells stalled over Elgin, Streamwood, Bartlett, Hanover Park and Schaumburg have caused some severe flooding. In Elgin, there are reports of cars floating down neighborhood streets west on the west side of Elgin north of US 20.

Elgin and Bartlett fireworks displays have been cancelled on July 4, 2026.

There are initial reports of over 6 inches of rain in this area in DuPage County.
