ComEd responded about 2:27 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026 to multiple reports of power outages in the neighborhood east of Arlington Heights Road between Oakton Street and Euclid Avenue in Arlington Heights.
ComEd indicated that downed wires were the cause of the power outage. When crews arrived on scene, they discovered they had two backyard poles down with significant damage.
Initially the estimated restoration time for electricity was indicated to be 4:15 p.m., but because of the need for new backyard poles, the project will probably not be completed until at least 2:30 a.m. and possibly as late as 6:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Air temperature at 2:30 p.m. in the area was around 94° – 97°F with a Heat Index of 98°F and a UV Index of 8.
According to ComEd, there were 65 active outages at 3:20 PM with about 1428 customers without service in Chicagoland.
A major infrastructure upgrade is planned in this neighborhood beginning possibly in August 2026, which involves replacement of overhead power lines and utility poles.
