A 44 year-old male suspect and convict, who lives on Buckingham Lane in Buffalo Grove, and was wanted for numerous charges by the Naperville Police Department related to domestic battery and aggravated stalking was apprehended during a felony traffic stop by the Arlington Heights Police Department on New Wilke Road near White Oak Street in Arlington Heights about 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Akhror Kurbonov and another male were detained and taken into custody Tuesday night. One undisclosed subject was apparently released, but Akhror Kurbonov was charged with Obstructing Identification (Providing False Name, Address, DOB and/or Presenting False Identity Documents).

Akhror Kurbonov, 5’7″ 150 LBS, was extradited to Will County Jail, where he was booked Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 10:41 a.m. and remains in custody.

In his case file there is a Failure to Appear Warrant issued January 20, 2026, and Kurbonov had been at large until the Arlington Heights arrest. Akhror Kurbonov spent 40 days in jail, and was sentenced 36 months probation.

The Court accepted Kurbonov’s plea of guilty with a Russian interpreter present to the offense of Aggravated Stalking, Class 3 Felony. A judgment of conviction was entered, and the defendant was sentenced on June 10, 2025. Remaining counts were ordered nolle prosequi (dropped by the prosecutor).

The traffic stop was located in the northbound lanes of New Wilke Road near the southeast corner of New Wilke Road and White Oak Street just south of the traffic stoplights.

A male white driver and a male white passenger were arrested after police ordered the driver and then the passenger out of a red sub-compact SUV that was facing northbound in the northbound lanes. Eventually about eight to ten marked and unmarked police vehicles were on the scene.

Police ordered the two subjects out of the car at gunpoint. The subjects were ordered to keep their hands up, and to walk backwards toward the police officers, who were protecting themselves behind the cover of their vehicles.

Initially, there was no information available about the reason for the traffic stop or the arrests.
