Police, firefighters and paramedics from Elk Grove Village responded about 6:26 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026 to a report of a personal injury crash at Elmhurst Road and Higgins Road in Elk Grove Village.
Police, firefighters and paramedics discovered a crash involving a black 4-door sedan and a silver sedan with significant front-end damage on Higgins Road just west of Elmhurst Road. Higgins Road is Route 72 at this location and become Touhy Avenue east of Elmhurst Road.
Elk Grove Village Fire Department Engine 8 and Elk Grove Village Fire Department Rescue Ambulance 8 were assigned to the scene. Initially, there was no information available on the number of crash victims injured and/or whether any individuals were transported by EMS.
Higgins Road is a six-lane arterial roadway just west of Elmhurst Road. Plus there are two additional left turn lanes from eastbound Higgins Road to northbound Elmhurst Road (in addition to the three straight through lanes of eastbound Higgins Road).
The Speed Limit on Higgins Road/Touhy Avenue is 45 MPH.
