White sedan rolled over near the median on Algonquin Road at the main entrance to Lowe’s, 990 West Algonquin Road in Arlington Heights on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 3:52 p.m. (CARDINAL NEWS).

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 3:50 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2026 to a report of a rollover crash with injuries at Algonquin Road and the main entrance to Lowe’s Home Improvement, 990 West Algonquin Road in Arlington Heights at the Surrey Ridge Shopping Center. A group of citizen rescuers immediately worked together to rescue occupants, including an infant that had been secured in a car seat, out of the rolled over sedan.

Police, firefighters and paramedics on arrival discovered a sedan upside down on its roof. Citizens helped occupants, including an infant, out of the vehicle before firefighters arrived.

The crash, located just northwest of the intersection of Algonquin Road and Golf Road, moderately affected traffic in both directions on Algonquin Road.

Initially, no serious injuries were assessed or detected immediately after the crash.

The Village of Arlington Heights did not provide any information or notification regarding the crash. Initially, it is unknown whether there were any EMS transports.

Arlington Heights Police Department investigated the crash. A witness stated that the driver of a white BMW sideswiped the white car shown in the photo, pushing the sedan into a median tree, which caused the white car to roll upside down. The Speed Limit on Algonquin Road (Illinois Route 62) is 35 MPH, according to Google Maps Street View images captured July 2025. Algonquin Road is a four-lane state route with an extra lane for left turns from eastbound Algonquin Road, and an extra lane for right turns from westbound Algonquin Road into the main entrance driveway at Lowe’s.
