A male defendant allegedly traveled from Schaumburg to Central Illinois to try to meet a fifteen year-old girl in Germantown Hills (pop. 3,500), but actually he wasn’t communicating with a teen girl before he left; he was communicating with law enforcement officers, who were waiting for him to arrive. Germantown Hills is located about 7 miles northeast of Peoria; and about 115 miles southwest of Schaumburg.

The Woodford County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) took Brian D. Rafferty, age 45, of Schaumburg, into custody in Germantown Hills, Illinois on Monday, April 13, 2026. According to the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office, the individual traveled from Northern Illinois to meet, who he believed to be, a 15-year-old female. When he arrived, he encountered members of the WCSO Proactive Unit’s Predator Apprehension Team. He was taken into custody without incident.

Initially, his workplace could not be confirmed, partially because …

#1) the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office indicates that the defendant’s middle initial is ‘D’,

#2) the Woodford County Court Records indicate the defendant’s middle initial is “C”, and

#3) the defendant’s workplace department where he is employed, referred CARDINAL NEWS to the Human Resources Department (and the communication has not been completed with the Human Resources Department).

Woodford County Court records indicated that Brian C. Rafferty was charged with …

Indecent Solicitation/Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (6 Counts)

Grooming

Also, Woodford County Court records indicate that the defendant resides in the Village of Schaumburg.

According to the Woodford County Jail, Brian Rafferty was released pre-trial. His next court date is a Preliminary Hearing on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. at the Woodford County Court (Location 1) with Judge Minger presiding.

The defendant Brian Rafferty is described as a male, 5’7″ 160 LBS with Hazel eye color and Brown hair.
