
A male adult suspect of Palatine, who was residing at the JOURNEYS homeless shelter on Northwest Highway near Route 53 was ordered held pre-trial at a detention hearing held Wednesday morning, February 11, 2026 at the Cook County 3rd District Court in Rolling Meadows. A Cook County Circuit Court judge ordered Kearve K. Williams detained pending his next scheduled court date of March 6, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room 108.
The Palatine Police Department announced the arrest of Kearve K. Williams in connection with the investigation of an attack of a teen female that occurred Monday morning February 9, 2026, at approximately 7:00 a.m. in the area of the block of 200 West Wood Street.

Palatine police officers responded to a report of a juvenile calling for help, and located a victim in distress who reported being the victim of a robbery and a sexual offense by an unknown male. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was evaluated at the scene by the Palatine Fire Department paramedics, and was released to her parents. Detectives immediately began an intensive investigation, including area canvassing and review of surveillance video. As part of investigative procedures, detectives coordinated appropriate victim services.
Through investigative efforts, detectives developed information that led to the identification of a suspect. Police officers and detectives located a subject matching the suspect’s description in the downtown Palatine area. The individual fled on foot, but was taken into custody following a brief pursuit with detectives and patrol officers.
The suspect was identified as Kearve K. Williams, 26, of the block of 1100 East Northwest Hwy. in Palatine. The only residential building in the block of 1100 East Northwest Highway is the JOURNEYS homeless shelter facility on Northwest Highway, just east of Route 53.
After a review of the facts by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, the following charges were approved on February 10, 2026:
Aggravated Kidnapping (Class X Felony)
Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (victim 13-16 years old)(Class 2 Felony)
In addition, Kearve Williams was charged with misdemeanor Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor). Additional charges will be sought pending further review and indictment.
Williams had been held in custody pending the detention hearing at the Cook County 3rd District Court in Rolling Meadows on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 108.

Investigators are seeking information regarding a subject believed to be connected to the incident. The individual is described as a male black in his twenties with a stubble beard. Detectives were working Monday to identify and locate this individual, and at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Palatine Police Department took a person of interest into custody in connection with the reported cellphone robbery. The arrest followed a brief foot pursuit by the police officers and detectives.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to the Palatine Police Department.
