Identity Released of Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash with Utility Pole That Split Her Car into Pieces on Barrington Rd, Hoffman Estates

The Cook County Medical Examiners Office has released the identity of a woman killed in a high-speed crash that occurred on Barrington Road north of Saint Alexius Medical Center as Lora Maelee Reeser, age 25, of the block of 0-99 Acadia Lane in Lake Zurich. The cause and manner of death are pending according to the Cook County Medical Examiners Office. However, the Hoffman Estates Police Department in a release today, Tuesday, February 17, 2025, has indicated the woman is age 25 from Crystal Lake, but did not release her identity. There are records online independent of authorities of a Lora H Reeser with residency in Crystal Lake.




Hoffman Estates Police reported three days after the crash occurred that the single-vehicle crash occurred at Barrington Road and Higgins Road, and did not indicate that the driver’s vehicle struck a utility pole. The wreckage, which appeared to be a severed sedan, was actually located near a utility police significantly further south of the intersection of Barrington Road and Higgins Road.

The Cook County Medical Examiners Office indicated the location of the crash as “Barrington Road north of St Alexius Medical Drive.”

The Hoffman Estates Police Department indicated that the 25 year-old female driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and that she was transported to Saint Alexius Medical Center, and died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash..




Police, firefighters and paramedics from Hoffman Estates responded about 7:10 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2026 to a report of a devastating single-vehicle fatal crash on Barrington Road north of Ascension Saint Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates. A vehicle, which was unrecognizable after the crash, was split in pieces and wrapped around a large utility pole. A female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, a 25 year-old female resident of Lake Zurich was pronounced dead about 7:40 p.m.

Barrington Road was closed in both directions between Bode Road and Illinois Route 72 (Higgins Rd.) during an extended crash investigation by the Major Case Assistance Team Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (MCAT-STAR) team. Access to the hospital from Barrington Road to Ascension Saint Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates was obstructed, but there was no notification on the Village of Hoffman Estates Facebook page, and there was no notification on the Village of Hoffman Estates Police Department Facebook page.




Hoffman Estates firefighters, paramedics and police officers worked at the scene of the fatal crash at Barrington Road near the Cook County Forest Preserve Barrington Road Pond Driveway in and near Hoffman Estates, where hospital access was blocked, and traffic on Barrington Road in Hoffman Estates was obstructed for several hours.
