On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at approximately 6:06 p.m., members of the Oakbrook Terrace Police Department, York Center Fire Protection District, and numerous police officers from surrounding jurisdictions were assigned to a report of a vehicle crash in the parking lot of 2 Trans Am Plaza Drive, Oakbrook Terrace.

Upon arrival, the police officers located one victim inside a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The York Center Fire Protection District paramedics began performing life-saving measures; however, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The incident is being actively investigated by members of the Oakbrook Terrace Police Department, DuPage County Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigative Team (MERIT), DuPage County Coroner’s Office, and DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.

“Fleeing to another state does not take a defendant out of the reach of law enforcement. Thanks to the truly outstanding work of the Oak Brook Terrace Police Department in coordination with DuPage MERIT and the Milwaukee Police Department, Ms. C-Woods was quickly identified and taken into custody and will be returned to DuPage County where she will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I offer my sincerest condolences to Obaidulla’s family and friends as they grieve their loss. I thank the numerous law enforcement agencies who provided valuable assistance in this case as well as Assistant State’s Attorneys Helen Kapas, Ken Tatarelis and Nicholas Covert for their work in securing strong charges against Ms. C-Woods.

“This arrest is a testament to the seamless collaboration between our local officers and our partners across DuPage County,” Calvello said. “By pooling our resources through MERIT, we were able to bring the highest level of investigative skill to bear on violent crimes, ensuring our community remains safe. I thank DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin and his team for their legal guidance throughout this investigation.”

— DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin
