There are allegations that Minneapolis police didn’t responded to a report of a break-in of a parked ICE vehicle on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
A video captured images of Anti-ICE rioters when they tied a tow rope connected from a pickup truck to a weapons locker in a federal SUV to rip it out through the rear hatch space of the SUV.

Hours later Donald J. Trump on Truth Social warned, “If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don’t obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionist from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job, I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT, which many Presidents have done before me, and quickly put an end to the travesty that is taking place in that once great State. Thank you for you(r) attention to this matter President DJT.”
The Truth Social post was share on the official White House X account.

The Insurrection Act of 1807, also known as the Insurrection Act, is the U.S. federal law that empowers the President of the United States to nationally deploy the U.S. military and to federalize the National Guard units of the individual states in specific circumstances, such as the suppression of civil disorder, of insurrection, and of armed rebellion against the United States federal government. The Insurrection Act provides a statutory exception to the Posse Comitatus Act (1878) that limits the president’s deploying the U.S. military inside the United States to enforce either civil law or criminal law within the United States.
After invoking, and before exercising the powers authorized under the Insurrection Act, Title 10 U.S.C. § 254 requires the publication of a presidential proclamation whereby the U.S. President formally orders the dispersion of the peoples committing civil unrest or armed rebellion. The Defense Department guidelines define “homeland defense” as a constitutional exception to the restrictions of the Posse Comitatus Act.
President Donald Trump previously warned on June 1, 2020, that he would invoke the Act in response to the George Floyd protests; however, the Insurrection Act was not activated.
Since 1914, the Insurrection Act has been invoked 14 times since 1914, and has been invoked 16 times before 1914.
