WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY 12 AM to 9 AM Sunday: 3.6″ New Snowfall Forecast for Downtown Arlington Heights

Minor light snow may begin around 9:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, but significant snowfall accumulation is forecast to occur from about 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday. Snow is forecast to linger until 11:00 a.m., and snow flurries may continue into Sunday night and Monday.

Total new snowfall accumulation is forecast to amount to 3.6 inches during the period from 12:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Sunday.

A clipper system will deliver a swath of snow to the area Saturday night into Sunday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for a portion of northern Illinois where snow totals in the 3-5″ range are expected. A wintry mix also looks increasingly likely south of I-80.

Light lake effect snow may develop into portions of northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana late Sunday through Monday morning.

Sunday: A 50 percent chance of snow, mainly before noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a temperature rising to near 26 by 9am, then falling to around 19 during the remainder of the day. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 13. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Monday: A 20 percent chance of snow showers before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 24. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14.

Tuesday: A slight chance of snow before noon, then a slight chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Night: Rain and snow, becoming all rain after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 32.

Wednesday: Rain and snow likely before noon, then a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35.
