DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Oak Brook Chief of Police Brian Strockis announced Thursday, November 27, 2025 that Judge George Ford has granted the State’s motion to detain pre-trial a Cook County convicted felon, currently on parole for aggravated robbery, accused of robbing an Oak Brook gas station at gunpoint earlier in November 2025. Jamion Winters, age 34, of the block of 1700 St. Charles Road, Maywood, appeared in First Appearance Court Thursday morning charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Repeat Felony Offender (Class X Felony), and one count of Armed Robbery with a Firearm (Class X Felony).
The Oak Brook Police Department responded at approximately 9:13 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2025 to a call of an armed robbery at the Circle K gas station located at 2210 W. 22nd Street. Upon arrival, a detective spoke with the victim who was working at the gas station. Following an investigation into the matter, police learned that the clerk was inside the store, behind the counter, when he noticed an individual, later identified as Winters, behind him wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up, a black face mask, and a glove on his right hand. Allegedly, Winters pointed a firearm held in his right hand at the clerk and said, “Give me the money open it open it and sit down.” Winters allegedly pushed the clerk to the ground, and when the clerk got up, Winters grabbed him, and moved him to the cash registers where the clerk opened the registers. It is alleged that Winters then took $457 out of two registers and then fled the scene. Through the course of their investigation, authorities identified Winters as a suspect in the case. On November 26, 2025, Oak Brook Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on Winters and took him into custody.

The apprehension of the defendant in this case serves as a warning to anyone who may even be thinking about victimizing a DuPage County business. We will not tolerate crime, and we will not give up on any case until charges are filed. I thank the Oak Brook Police Department for their outstanding efforts on this case and their ongoing work in keeping our retail businesses safe for patrons and employees alike. I also thank Assistant State’s Attorneys Michael Pingaj, Nicholas Covert and Anna Derkacz for their efforts in preparing a strong case against Mr. Winters.”

Winter’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 22, 2025, in front of Judge Joseph Bugos.
