During the month of December 2025, the Arlington Heights Police Department, in partnership with members of the private sector, will be expanding its efforts to combat organized retail crime through the launch of periodic enforcement campaigns. These operations build on the agency’s previous participation in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Regional Organized Crime Task Force (CCROC) National initiative in May of 2025. This effort included more than 100 law enforcement agencies across 28 states. These local operations are designed to help retailers proactively address seasonal increases in crime and to disrupt the criminal networks engaged in the organized theft and resale of merchandise.
Within hours of the first operation on December 9, 2025, Arlington Heights Police Department officers made two arrests, including the arrest of 21-year-old Dasharra J. Cokley of Vernon Hills, for felony Retail Theft and Resisting Arrest charges. At the time of her arrest, Cokley was also subject to two other felony retail theft investigations from previous months at the same location.
The second person arrested was cited for misdemeanor Retail Theft.
Both offenders were charged and released pending their initial court appearances.
The Arlington Heights Police Department plans to continue operations periodically as a key component of its broader strategy to address spikes in retail crime.
