Found Bullet at Rolling Meadows High School Causes Early Dismissal, Cancellation of After School Activities Tuesday

Rolling Meadows Police Department reported on Tuesday afternoon, October 28, 2025, that a bullet was discovered inside the Rolling Meadows High School building, which resulted in a response of early dismissal of students and cancellation of after-school activities.

On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at approximately 12:30 pm, a Rolling Meadows High School (“RMHS”) student reported to school staff that a live bullet was found within the school building, and the bullet was immediately turned in to a staff member by the student. Rolling Meadows Police Department Detectives responded to the school to assist School Resource Officers with this investigation. Upon becoming aware of the incident, the school was placed in “hold” status to facilitate this investigation. RMHS officials have coordinated an early dismissal of students, and on-campus after-school activities were cancelled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025. No threats have been made to students or staff, according to Rolling Meadows Police Department.

“This investigation is ongoing. The Rolling Meadows Police Department will continue to work with our partners at Rolling Meadows High School and Township High School District 214 to ensure the safety of students and teachers at RMHS and to bring this incident to an appropriate resolution.
