Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a mother and father after finding their children living in unsanitary conditions and uncovering child pornography in the father’s possession.

Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives received a tip from an online cloud storage website indicating a device in Lake County uploaded child pornography to their platform. Sheriff’s detective began an investigation and based on that investigation, determined the likely source was coming from a residence in the 0-100 block of Woodland Ave, Fox Lake.

On August 14, 2025, Lake County Sheriff’s Cybercrime Detectives, members of the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office Cybercrime Unit, and members of the Sheriff’s Tactical Response Team conducted a search warrant at the home. Investigators were surprised to learn an entire family was living in the basement of the home, including three children under the age of three. The father of the children, Logan J. Jentink, 29, of the home was ultimately found to be responsible for downloading and possessing child pornography.

Further investigation showed the three children were living in horrid conditions, including being forced to sleep on the cold concrete in the basement, which was covered in urine and animal feces. The conditions were so poor, electronic detection canines at the scene could not be deployed.

DCFS was contacted and the children were placed into the care of a different guardian.

Several animals, including iguanas, a bearded dragon, turtle, and two dogs were found to be in the basement, uncared for, some appearing close to death from malnourishment. Lake County Animal Control responded and took custody of the animals.

Initially, Jentink was charged with five counts of cruel treatment to an animal and three counts of child endangerment. Following the analysis of his cellular phone, the child pornography was recovered, and detectives obtained an arrest warrant yesterday for seven counts of possessing child pornography.

Lake County Sheriff’s detectives also obtained an arrest warrant for the mother of the children, Sandra J. Zaluski, 23, of the same residence for three counts of child endangerment and five counts of cruel treatment to an animal.

Zaluski was released following a court hearing today with pre-trial conditions. Jentink remains held in the Lake County Jail pending a court hearing.

Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “I am very thankful our detectives acted quickly on this tip and ultimately were able to remove these children from horrid conditions. This is another example of our team working tirelessly to keep our most vulnerable safe and out of harm’s way, or to remove them from unsafe conditions. Children should always be the most cherished gift a parent has and we will continue being relentless in protecting our county’s most vulnerable.”

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
