DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Addison Chief of Police Roy Selvik announced today, Thursday, August 21, 2025 that Judge Susan Alvarado has granted the State’s motion to deny pre-trial release for a Buffalo Grove resident accused of secretly video recording multiple females, including two minors, at his Addison ice cream shop. Steven Weisberg, age 58, of the block of 300 Satinwood Terrace in Buffalo Grove, appeared in First Appearance Court Thursday morning charged with two counts of Child Pornography (Class X Felony) and two counts of Unauthorized Video Recording (Class 3 Felony).

In early August 2025, Addison Police Department received an anonymous complaint of suspicious activity at the Flavor Frenzy ice cream shop, located at 48 West Lake Street, regarding what appeared to be a fake wall electrical outlet in the shop’s restroom. After receiving the complaint, an undercover officer with the Addison Police Department went to Flavor Frenzy and allegedly observed what appeared to be an outlet in the shop’s bathroom with a small black lens in one of the receptacles positioned to capture portions of the restroom, including a urinal.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers removed the phony outlet and discovered it contained a camera that appeared to have recording capabilities. Following an investigation into the matter, police say Weisberg allegedly installed the camera a few years earlier and that he was able to access and save the video footage from the camera on his laptop and cell phone. After obtaining a search warrant for Weisberg’s electronic devices both at his home and at the ice cream shop, authorities found eleven videos in the deleted folder of the defendant’s phone. The folder contained images that depicted six different individuals. There were images of female employees at Flavor Frenzy, using the Flavor Frenzy bathroom.

One of the videos allegedly depicted a female trying on different Flavor Frenzy T-shirts, completely exposing her breasts to the camera throughout the video. Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify the female in the video as a sixteen-year-old female employee at Flavor Frenzy. Allegedly, Weisberg allegedly asked the girl to try on and model different T-shirts for the business. The teen female victim had to change into the T-shirts the bathroom where the camera was located.

Detectives allegedly found two additional videos on his phone involving victims that have not initially been identified. These images included female employees, one of whom is a minor, at various stages of undress exposing their buttocks and sex organs, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Friday afternoon, August 15, 2025, Weisberg was placed under arrest by the Addison Police Department. Since his arrest, four additional minor female employees reported to the Addison Police Department that the defendant allegedly asked them to model T-shirts and told them to remove their bras for the photos so that there was no bra outline in the photos.

“The allegations against Mr. Weisberg are not only a crime, they are appalling. The alleged secret video recording of these young girls should send a chill down the spine of each and every one of us. I commend the Addison Police Department for their extremely quick response to the initial complaint and their thorough follow-up investigation. I also thank Assistant State’s Attorneys Jaclyn McAndrew and Grace Barsanti for their efforts on this very disturbing case and for their ongoing efforts in protecting our children from child pornographers, as alleged in this case.

“Mr. Weisberg allegedly falsely created an environment where children should have felt safe and secure,” Selvik said. “Instead, he betrayed not only their trust, but the trust of our entire community in one of the most heinous and disturbing ways. Our agency will continue working to find additional victims in the case and provide all assistance available including social services. We are grateful for the swift actions of our detectives, as well as the support of State’s Attorney Bob Berlin and Assistant State’s Attorney Grace Barsanti.”

— DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin

An investigation into the matter continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Addison Police Department at (630) 543-3080.

Weisberg’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 15, 2025, in of Judge Mia McPherson.

“Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.”
