Motorcyclist Killed When Semi-Trailer Truck Driver Turns Left in Front of Motorcycle at Route 176 and Bradley Rd, Green Oaks

Lake County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigators are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a semi-trailer truck that occurred Friday afternoon, July 18, 2025.

Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies and firefighters and paramedics from Libertyville Fire Department responded about 2:35 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025 to a report of a personal injury crash at Route 176 and Bradley Road in Green Oaks. Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found a motorcyclist fatally injured, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded and is scheduling an autopsy.

The driver of a Peterbilt semi-trailer truck was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation. The Illinois State Police were assigned to this crash involving a commercial truck vehicle.

A preliminary investigation shows a 2013 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, driven by a 35-year-old man of Round Lake Beach, was traveling westbound on Route 176. Based on witness statements, the driver of the motorcycle approached Bradley Road, and the traffic light was green for westbound traffic.

A 2008 Peterbilt Semi, carrying a dump trailer, driven by a 50-year-old man of McHenry, was traveling eastbound on Route 176. The driver of the Peterbilt began turning left to go northbound on Bradley Road, and turned in front of the oncoming motorcycle. The motorcycle and the motorcyclist collided with the semi-truck.

Lake Shore Harley Davidson motorcycle dealership is located at the northeast corner of Route 176 and Bradley Road in Green Oaks near Libertyville, Illinois.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.

Route 176 (Rockland Road) is a two-lane highway east of Bradley Road that become multi-lane at the intersection, and Route 176 a four-lane highway west of Bradley Road.

Westbound Route 176 at Bradley Road features four lanes — a left turn lane to southbound Bradley Road, two straight-thru lanes, and a right turn lane to northbound Bradley Road.

Eastbound Route 176 at Bradley Road features three lanes — a left turn lane to northbound Bradley Road and two straight-thru lanes.

The Speed Limit on Route 176 is 40 MPH east of Bradley Road, and 45 MPH west of Bradley Road, according to Google Maps Street View images.

Bradley Road is a two-lane road and features a left turn for each direction of Route 176.
