Lake County Sheriff’s Crash Investigators are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred Saturday night, July 5, 2025 in Wadsworth.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025 to a three-vehicle crash on West Russell Road at Frontage Road in Wadsworth. Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found multiple occupants injured and three vehicles with major damage — a Chevrolet Volt, a Mercedes Benz, and a Porsche Macan.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, a 33-year-old woman of Niles, was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries, but succumbed to her injuries and died at the hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet and another passenger, a 4-year-old girl of Niles, were also transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz and a passenger, a 40-year-old man of Schaumburg were transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Porsche Macan was transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigation shows a 2020 Porsche Macan, driven by a 58-year-old Addison man, was traveling westbound on Russell Road, approaching the stop sign at Frontage Road. Ahead of the Porsche was a 2016 Chevrolet Volt, driven by a 35-year-old Niles man, which was stopped behind a 2020 Mercedes-Benz, driven by a 37-year-old Rolling Meadows woman—both vehicles were stopped at the stop sign at Frontage Road.
The driver of the Porsche failed to stop and struck the rear of the Chevrolet Volt at a high rate of speed. The force of this crash pushed the Chevrolet into the Merecedes-Benz.
Speed and alcohol impairment appear to be factors for the driver of the Porsche, and criminal charges are likely to be filed against the Addison man upon his discharge from the hospital, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
