Blue Island police officers and subsequently the FBI responded after an armored car robbery located at the U.S. Bank, 11960 Western Avenue in Blue Island that occurred about 4:25 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025.
Three male/black offenders, age late teens to mid-20s, robbed a Loomis Armored Services armored car (full-size truck) while the armored car crew was transferring money at the US Bank in Blue Island, which is located near the southwest side of Chicago.
The offenders were also described as having medium builds, wearing dark colored sweatpants and hooded sweatshirt, black facial covering, and light gray gloves.
Initially, no injuries were reported.
One suspect was seen carrying a secure Cash in Transit Box. Some Cash in Transit Boxes include tracking features (RFID, GPS) which allow real-time monitoring of the box’s location and movement. Cash in Transit Boxes may also include cash degradation systems, which can render the cash inside the box unusable.

The offenders fled in a vehicle that was not initially described by the FBI. The offenders are at large.

The public can report tips (even anonymously) at 312-421-6700 and tips.fbi.gov. Additional releasable information will be posted to bankrobbers.fbi.gov as available, according to the FBI.
