Des Plaines police received a report on Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2025 of shots fired by two male suspects in a parking lot of a restaurant on Algonquin Road in Des Plaines.
The Des Plaines Police Department is investigating a shots fired incident that occurred about 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the parking lot of La Marina Mariscos restaurant, 1261 East Algonquin Road in Des Plaines.
Des Plaines police officers responded to the La Marina Mariscos restaurant for a report of two males exchanging gunfire in the parking lot. A preliminary investigation revealed that a male subject had entered the restaurant looking for a specific individual. The individual he was looking for exited a different door, Next, the two subjects confronted each other in the parking lot. They exchanged gunfire, and both male subjects fled the scene, one on foot and the other in a blue pick-up truck.
Des Plaines Police have no awareness of reported injuries as a result of this incident. Police officers recovered eight spent shell casings, six .40 caliber casings and two 9mm casings.
Police officers also recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun in the rear of the business near a dumpster.
According to the Des Plaines Police Department, “This is believed to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the general public.”

The crime scene was located on Algonquin Road just east of Lee Street, just south of downtown Des Plaines.
